Examining the case of OSM Kenya, we showcase and exhibit how initiatives have empowered local communities through open mapping, fostering collaborations, and skill development. We have catalyzed sustainable impact driving positive change across the country and around the world through empowering over 200+ young people who are members of our community. Gaining insights and strategies for enhancing community engagement and capacity within the OpenStreetMap ecosystem in Kenya and beyond borders.
The presentation will be centered around Community Capacity Building as a model for building sustainable communities for the global south, Sharing tricks and skills that we have adapted over five years, we desire to showcase our growth as a community through the contribution of open data. During the presentation, we will recognize the community for working together to achieve such a milestone as we seek to enlighten other communities toward achieving greater goals.
